Erin is an Instructor of Spanish at the University of South Carolina. She is National Board Certified and was the 2012 SC Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Teacher of the Year. Erin earned her Masters in Education in Languages and is currently a doctoral student in USC’s Language and Literacy PhD program.

Bethany Battig Ramseur, SC Chapter President Elect

Bethany is a high school Spanish teacher at Hilton Head Preparatory School where she also serves as the Director of Cultural Immersion, Faculty Advisor for the Rotary’s Interact Club, Cadet Teaching Program Coordinator, and sponsor for the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica Los Delfines Chapter.  She was the 2017 SC Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Teacher of the Year and holds a Masters in Spanish Literature from the University of Georgia.


Caitlin Howard, SC Chapter Past-PresidentCaitlin

Caitlin is a National Board Certified Spanish I-III teacher at Clover High School in Clover, South Carolina. She sponsors the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica Calavera Catrina Chapter and earned her Master’s in C&I. Caitlin is also the President-elect of SCFLTA.


María FranciMariasco Montesó, SC Chapter Treasurer
María is a Certified Translator and Interpreter English/Spanish and Spanish Instructor at University of SC Upstate in the Department of Languages, Literature and Composition.




Becky Bogan, SC National Spanish Exam Coordinator


Becky holds a degree in Spanish from Furman University and a M.Ed. in Administration & Supervision from Clemson University.  She is currently in her 23rd year as a Spanish educator.  She teaches AP and IB Spanish at Southside High School in Greenville, SC and serves as an IB examiner as well as table leader at the AP Reading for Spanish Language & Culture.

Trixi is a Spanish instructor and World Languages Team leader at VirtualSC.  She has a Bachelor’s of Music Education with a double major in Spanish and a M.Ed. in Educational Technology.  She was most recently named the iNACOL (International Association of Online Learning) Teacher of the Year and the VirtualSC Teacher of the Year for 2016.

Maggie is a high school, middle school, and IB Spanish teacher at Lowcountry Preparatory School in Pawleys Island, SC. Born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Maggie attended high school in El Salvador after her parents accepted teaching positions at a bilingual school in the capital city. She graduated from Sewanee The University of the South with a degree in  Political Science, and has spent time in several countries in Central and South America, including Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and Ecuador. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Spanish at Middlebury College
